One of the missions of the SNDA is to increase the number of minorities in the field of dentistry. This year, to accomplish this goal, we intend to reach out to likely candidates for dental school at the undergraduate level. Our plan is to combine the various pre-health/pre-dental organizations into one nationally recognized organization, the Undergraduate SNDA (USNDA). As a USNDA members, students will receive guidance and exposure to dentistry, as opposed to general information provided through organizations designed to encompass several areas of health care.

SNDA Impressions Day
One of the major objectives for establishing the USNDA is to increase the interaction amongst undergraduate and dental students. To facilitate our goal, local SNDA chapters host a one day fall and/or spring semester Impression Day programs for all undergraduate affiliates to participate in.
This program will provide courses and lectures that will introduce undergraduates to the demands of the profession. The program will also offer suggestions for gaining acceptance and succeeding in dental school. Various portions of the Impressions Program include Dental Admissions Test (DAT) preparation, dental school mock interviews, guest speakers, tours, information about summer programs, and an opportunity for students to perform some hands-on dentistry of their own.

As an organization, we are confident that establishing undergraduate chapters of SNDA will aid in minority success, as well as increase the number of minorities in the dental profession. This goal will become a reality with the cooperation of undergraduate colleges and universities, like your own. If you are interested in beginning an undergraduate chapter at your institution and/or would like more information regarding SNDA and the Impressions Program, please contact the Member at Large.
